Tomi Räisänen has been involved in sports for 40 years and has seen and experienced the world of sports very widely; professional hockey goaltender, extreme sports enthusiast, referee, coach, sports masseuse, physiotherapist, trainer, breathing coach and father of two athletic children... so Tomi has seen and felt a huge spectrum of sports-related moments and emotions during his life.
After his own active career, Tomi has worked non-stop in sports for almost two decades; In different teams, e.g. Finland's women's ice hockey Olympic team, China's women's ice hockey team, Floorball U23 National Team; in various sports events, e.g. Squash European Championship competitions, Badminton Finnish Open; educated in different parts of the world, held a private clinic and worked in different healt care departments.
Tomi has been extensively trained in sports physiotherapy and over the past decade has specialized strongly in Breath Training, strengthening the connection between body and mind and treating respiratory related problems and symptoms.
Over the years, Tomi has utilized many different methods in coaching athletes and rehabilitating the body and mind and helping people suffering from acute and chronic pain. Separated individually, conscious breathing and breath training has been by far the most versatile, effective and beneficial help, not to mention the integration of breathing with other aspects of training and rehabilitation.
Tomi has also experienced this in his own life and that is exactly why Tomi is very unique as a Breath Coach. Tomi has trained in the schools of many different pioneers of Breathwork and he combines the knowledge, techniques and exercises of many different science-based methods and schools with his own strong personal experience... Experience that accumulates more every day.
In his own life, Tomi is a constant student of breathing, and observing his own breathing and various breathing exercises are part of everyday life. He also cooperates with the scientific brain research group BM-Science, and Tomi himself has also been the subject of research.
Many different situations, where there has even been a real danger to life, have taught Tomi how breathing is directly connected to the body's physiology, fear, stress and pain , and also when harnessing inner strength. Tomi has personally experienced how the mind can completely change in situations where one's own life is at stake, and has experienced both the "deception" of the mind in the midst of danger and hypothermia, and the power to completely relax and calm oneself in the intensive care unit of a hospital after a brain injury...
.. going back to the examinations and the two brain injuries and several concussions that Tomi has experienced. The brain researchers were surprised that Tomi was able to influence his own physiology so strongly with his own breathing exercises that no sign of a history of brain injuries or concussions was found in the brain... even though similar injuries "always" leave their mark on the brain.
"Breathing is THE "miracle pill" that unlocks almost unlimited opportunities for an athlete to develop both the physical and mental, and when added to other important training parts that already exist, breathing training unlocks the opportunity to harness your full potential and opens the way to the peak of your performance.
The enormous power of breathing is no longer just an oriental myth, but a scientifically proven fact. Breathing training is also not a passing trend in sports, but has become a permanent part of serious training. The fact that world number one in tennis Iga Świątek trains with hes mouth taped and hundred meter sprinters run to the finish line with their mouths closed is a good proof of that.
The question is. Are you ready to give a head start to those who have realized the tremendous benefits of breathing in sports, or are YOU the athlete who taps into your greatest inner strength to achieve your maximum performance.
If you are ready to start using breathing in your sport and commit to training with me, I guarantee you results that improve your performance, and at the same time improve your mental well-being"
Your Breath Coach,
Tomi Räisänen
